Mario began in 2002 with nothing more than a van, a newspaper round, and a determination to work hard - even in the early hours of the morning - ensuring newsagents across South London had their papers on time. As rewarding as that was, the schedule was far from ideal for newlywed life or starting a family, and Cathy got involved!
We decided to put the van to use during more sociable hours, and that’s how Lara Transport was born. What started as a simple idea has grown into a fleet of vehicles and a fantastic team specialising in domestic and commercial moves, as well as event setup. Through it all, the family values that shaped the business from day one remain at the heart of everything we do.
Over the years, Lara Transport has grown from handling small, local man‑and‑van jobs to managing full‑scale house moves and complex long‑distance relocations. What began as a simple service has developed into a trusted operation with the experience (and resources) to take on larger domestic moves, commercial projects, and even international journeys. We also believe in being upfront and honest, so if we’re not the right fit for your job or there could be better options for you, we’ll always say so.
In more recent years, we’ve successfully completed numerous moves to France and Spain, giving us first‑hand knowledge of the logistics, paperwork, and planning required - especially with the additional steps introduced since Brexit. This experience means we can guide our customers through the process with confidence, clarity, and a calm understanding of what’s needed at every stage.
Whether it’s a short local shift or a major move across borders, our team brings the same level of care, professionalism, and attention to detail every time.
Mario is the main man, with a real knack for working out how things move in and out of spaces and an instinctive eye for what fits where. He’s supported by Eduardo and also by Cathy, who is often the first friendly voice you’ll hear on the phone. Alongside them is our fantastic team of packers, lifters, and drivers who help keep everything running smoothly.
